Being sustainable means taking responsibility

Our vision of sustainability is about caring for one another and striking a balance between people, planet and profit. That is what motivates us to improve every day and prepare for the future. Step by step, consciously and with care.

We do what’s in our possibilities and involve others in the process. We want to encourage everyone who designs, produces, sells, or wears our clothing and accessories to move forward—in small, achievable steps.

If you’d like to learn more about the steps we’re taking, be sure to check out our Better Every Day Report 2025, which we compile annually together with our Holding company.

Our focus is focussing on making choices that actually make a difference

Committing to sustainability requires to make choices. And that calls for a genuine focus. That’s why we’re focusing on a number of areas where we can make a real difference—in our supply chain, in our collections, and together with out customers. Not as a standalone project we occasionally pay attention to, but as an integral part of how we work and when make decisions.

Good, ethical fashion starts with good working conditions. We work exclusively with manufacturing partners who are members of recognized initiatives. Amfori BSCI is our standard, and where relevant, we align with other initiatives such as ICS or SLCP. This way, we work together with suppliers to achieve structural progress in the areas of safety, health, and working conditions. Our CSR colleagues visit and audit the factories we work with so that we can conduct our own audits. In addition, we support and coach them in the continuous improvement of working conditions.

Without transparency, progress is hindered. Understanding where and how products are made is therefore essential to being able to truly take and uphold responsibility. At Jomo, we are constantly working to achieve the most transparent supply chain possible, focusing not only on the manufacturing sites we do business with, but also on their suppliers and the suppliers of those suppliers.

Practicing sustainability requires the right knowledge. That is why we actively invest in education on sustainability and compliance. Through an ongoing sustainability education program, we expand our knowledge of materials, compliance, and impact. This includes workshops, webinars, inspiration sessions, and internal knowledge sharing. Because the better we understand where impact arises, the smarter the choices we make. This applies to ourselves, the manufacturers, and certainly to our customers as well.

One thing is clear: the future of fashion is increasingly centered on circularity. For us, that starts right at the drawing board. We integrate eco-design (designing and developing products as sustainably as possible) into the development process by focusing specifically on the sustainability, repairability, and recyclability of the materials. Through conscious material choices and thoughtful designs, we extend the lifespan of products and reduce their (negative) impact.

The production of our products has an environmental impact at every stage of the supply chain. This impact includes greenhouse gas emissions (Scope 1, 2, and 3), water and energy consumption, the use of chemicals, and the amount of waste generated. HVEG is actively committed to reducing these impacts step by step, while also scrutinizing our own environmental footprint.

At the HVEG Lab, we work with our sister companies to develop sustainable business initiatives that we can turn into commercial opportunities.

Materials make all the difference. That’s why we’re gradually increasing the proportion of sustainable materials in our collections—materials that are recycled, organic, and certified by organizations that matter. We’re committed to continuing this effort, always keeping in mind the quality, comfort, and commercial viability of the final product.

certifications

We work with recognized standards and initiatives that allow us to make a real contribution to improvement, including:

– Organic cotton (GOTS / OCS)
– Better Cotton Initiative (BCI)
– Recycled materials (GRS/RCS)
– Materials free of harmful substances (Oeko-Tex Standard 100)
– Fire & Building Safety in Bangladesh & Pakistan (Accord)
– Business Social Compliance Initiative (amfori BSCI)

In addition to the above, we are always on the lookout for new certifications and initiatives in the market that allow us to make an impact.

Together is better

As part of the HVEG Fashion Group, we can play a greater role in promoting a more sustainable supply chain. We do this by pooling our knowledge, testing new initiatives or products, and scaling up innovations more quickly. After all, working together to create a more sustainable sector leads to faster change.

Our progress

We believe it’s important to show where we stand and what we’re aiming for. In our annual Better Everyday Report, we share our progress, insights, and ambitions for a more sustainable textile industry.
